Our Community Need

To fulfill our promise, every two years Komen Northeast Ohio conducts a needs assessment resulting in the Community Profile, which guides our funding and allows us to work more effectively within the community. Komen Northeast Ohio completed a 10-month study that evaluates the state of breast cancer in our service area. The report analyzes demographic and breast cancer data, reviews existing breast care programs and services, and summarizes survey and focus group findings with breast cancer survivors and breast health providers. The Community Profile report reveals that women and families in Komen Northeast Ohio’s service area suffer acutely from the impact of breast cancer, especially with regard to death rates.

Komen Northeast Ohio Service Area Priorities

Priority 1: Develop and strengthen relationships with stakeholders and non-traditional partners along the continuum of care to increase access and reduce systemic barriers to care.
Priority 2: Increase breast health awareness and education programs, including early detection and screening information, for women most in need of services, with a focus on minority populations.
Priority 3: Increase access to screening and treatment services for the low-income, under/uninsured, working poor and minority populations.
