Komen Northeast Ohio Accepting Applications for the 2012 Cleveland Class of Pink Tie Guys
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Northeast Ohio Affiliate is now accepting applications for its 2012 Cleveland class of Pink Tie Guys. The program, which was introduced in 2009, features eight prominent men from the region who serve as Ambassadors for breast health. By simply wearing a special Komen pink ribbon tie at community events, these men hope to spark conversations about the importance of early detection; the best protection against deadly breast cancer. This initiative is also aimed at engaging more men in the breast cancer movement and empowering them to be involved in women’s health issues. The eight men are selected to represent the one in eight women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes. A separate class for the Akron and Canton region will be selected later this spring.
Candidates for the Pink Tie Guy program should have a personal connection to breast cancer and be willing to share the message of early detection. A candidate’s ability and willingness to leverage their sphere of influence to further Komen’s promise to end breast cancer forever is very important. More information and the application can be downloaded here and must be returned with a resume no later than March 1, 2012.
