About our Grants Program
Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the nation's largest private provider of funds for breast cancer research and community outreach programs. Through programs like the Komen Race for the Cure® Series and other fundraising and awareness events, Komen Affiliates raise tens of millions of dollars each year to help achieve the organization's promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures. Seventy-five percent of an Affiliate's net income stays in the community. The remaining 25 percent supports the Komen National Award and Research Grant Program. Since 1994, the Komen Northeast Ohio County Affiliate has raised more than $12 million to fund local community-based breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment programs for the medically underserved. A comprehensive community assessment is conducted to ensure that funding is directed to non-duplicative programs that address the specific unmet breast health needs of people living in Northeast Ohio. The Affiliate supports local nonprofits through the Community Grant Program. These grants have a tremendous impact on our community and frequently, the Affiliate is the primary source of local funding for breast health programs.
Small Grants
The Komen Northeast Ohio Affiliate is pleased to announce that applications currently are being accepted for Small grants, Conference grants and Travel scholarships. The purpose of the small grants program is to allow funding requests for small amounts that promote Komen’s promise and increase the capacity of effective breast health programs. The small Conference Grants program furthers the Komen mission in Affiliate communities by supporting local scientific or educational conferences, symposia and meetings. Travel reimbursement scholarships provide travel assistance to grantees, health care professionals, and advocates to attend, participate in, and/or present at meetings, conferences or symposia.
