For 15 years, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Northeast Ohio Affiliate has made great progress in the fight to end breast cancer forever. The generosity of our donors is vital as we continue our efforts to help breast cancer patients today and invest in the health of future generations.
Even more important than the funds we raise is what we do with them. We are extremely careful how we spend your donations, and hold general administrative and overhead expenses for the Affiliate, including fundraising, to less than 25 percent.
Up to 75% of the net money raised through the Komen Northeast Ohio Affiliate funds programs in Northeast Ohio. Since 1994, we have raised $12 million to provide funding and support to local agencies who share our mission.
The agencies receiving grants provide screening, treatment, education and support. The remaining 25% of the net money raised helps fund the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Program.
All donations are considered unrestricted funds and will be used to support breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in Northeast Ohio, as well as national research to find the cures. To learn more, visit Where Your Money Goes.

Gifts in Memoriam or Honor
If your gift is in memory or in honor of someone, we can also send a personalized tribute card to the person or her/his family. If you prefer, we can acknowledge your gift without revealing the donation amount and/or your name. All donations to the Northeast Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. When you make a donation, you will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.
Planned Giving
One way that you can help us fight breast cancer is by including Komen Northeast Ohio in your estate planning. You can name the Northeast Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure as a beneficiary of your will in one of several ways — by identifying a specific gift, a percentage of your total estate or naming the organization as a remainder beneficiary. You can also name Komen Northeast Ohio as owner and/or beneficiary or partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Consult with your estate or tax advisor on how making a planned gift to Komen Northeast Ohio may provide a tax advantage to you and your heirs.
Matching Gifts
Make your gift grow by checking to see if your employer has a matching gift program. Many companies will match employee charitable contributions. Matching gifts may also be available to you if you’re a spouse of an employee a retired employee or the spouse/widow/widower of a retiree.

The Northeast Ohio Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation DBA the Northeast Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a 501(c)(3) organization as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. Komen for the Cure is approved as a participant in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and is a national federation member of Independent Charities of America (ICA). From its inception, Komen for the Cure with its Affiliate Network has raised nearly $600 million in the fight against breast cancer. General administrative and overhead expenses for the Foundation, including fundraising, are held to less than 25 percent.
